I participated in a workshop on digital fabrication ( or fabbing ) and algorithmic shapes.

‘tower #73’ is one of the two sculptures i created ( while the photo is taken by marius ). my sculptures are part of the exhibition ‘Beyond the Screen’ at the DAM Berlin. check out marius watz website for more information.

New Installation in Prague

I have just finished another installation for ART+COM.

it is another take on the concept of ‘generative narration’. we use a simulative system to tell a story about a brain that is attacked by ‘multiple sclerosis’ strokes and a drug that can partially cure the disease.

For one night we ( Tennisfreunde Berliin ) turned the infamous Rodeo-Club into a sweat-drenched arena. tears, winners, slick moves, exquisite buttons, funky t-shirts, smooth MCs and untied ties.

New Installation at “Museum für Naturkunde”

Wohlerzogene Interaktive Medien

Interaktive Medien müssen sich verändern! Warum? Weil viele Menschen nicht glücklich sind und auch die Medien einen Teil dazu beitragen.

Sie sind oft bevormundend, ignorieren unsere Eingaben oder hören nicht richtig zu. Können wir Interaktive Medien denn nicht besser erziehen? Wir glauben schon und spinnen die Vision einer gestalterischen Haltung, durch die den Gadgets gutes Benehmen beigebracht wird.

Der Umgang mit einem Betriebssystem wird angenehm wie ein Spaziergang durch den Wald. Einem Mobiltelefon wird, wie einem geliebten Haustier, die letzte Ehre erwiesen. Einem Interface wird ein Fehler verziehen, so wie man auch einem guten Bekannten verzeiht.

Videospielen war eine Wohnzimmer-Kulturtechnik.
Die Spieler haben jetzt wieder einen Körper.

Anfang des Jahres haben wir einen „Verein zur Untersuchung von Videospielen als öffentliches Erlebnis“ gegründet. Intention der Unternehmung ist es Emotion und Situationen mit Videospielen in Verbindung zu bringen, die für gewöhnlich nicht assoziert werden. Dazu entfliehen wir dem Wohnzimmer und zerren das Videospiel in die Öffentlichkeit. Wir schaffen temporäre Orte durch Interventionen in öffentlichen Räumen.

Das Videospiel, als ehemals privates, introvertiertes Erlebnis, wird in ein öffentliches Erlebnis transformiert. Nicht nur das Geschehen auf den Bildschirmen steht zur Diskussion, sondern plötzlich auch der Körper des Spielers. Seine Bewegungen werden zum Gegenstand der Beobachtung. Das Videospiel wird um Jubel, Lampenfieber und Schweiss erweitert. Es wird zum physischen Erlebnis.

Wir reinterpretieren Videospielen als ein performatives Medium.
